Meaningful Conversations, Lasting Connections
Thursdays at 10:00 AM
Each week, members gather for a brief business meeting, refreshments, and a featured guest speaker. Speakers range from authors and historians to public officials and local experts, often followed by lively discussion and Q&A. Meetings are open to the public, and visitors are always welcome.

Our special interest groups meet before our regular Thursday meetings and offer members the chance to dive deeper into subjects they care about most.
These informal discussions are led by members and cover a range of subjects from local issues to global affairs, current events, technolgy issues and investing.
Community Service
Giving Back to Stamford, One Act at a Time
SMAS members take pride in supporting the Stamford community. Our volunteer efforts include:
Free tax preparation for seniors and low-income residents with AARP Tax Aides
Soup kitchen service and food assistance at the New Covenant Center
Support for veterans and veteran-focused programs
Painting and clean-up work at Cubeta stadium in Scalzi Park
Musical performances at nursing homes by our Songsters a cappella group
- Volunteering at Wheel It Forward – a lending library for Durable Medical Equipment (DME)

Lifelong learning is at the heart of what we do. Our programs go beyond casual discussion—offering opportunities for intellectual stimulation, shared inquiry, and personal growth. Whether you’re exploring tech trends or tackling global policy, our goal is to keep minds sharp and curiosity alive.
Our weekly meetings include educational and entertaining programs by speakers who are authors, public officials, scientists, historians, educators and other professionals. Recent subjects have included:

- Bulova: 150-Year Legacy

Weekly Monday Golf Play
With 20+ members playing on Mondays (from 9 am – 3 pm) at Sterling Farms Golf Course, this casual game is a great way to get outside and meet other members. Not a great golfer or just starting out? You’re just the type of golfer we’re looking for. (Half our players don’t even keep track of their score.) Open to all members whether you want to play every week or just part-time. A fun, no-pressure game.
Weekly Pickleball
Join the fun every Friday morning at Cummings Park. Just show up, warm up and play. Beginners are welcome. Don’t forget your paddle!
Bocce Mornings
A great way to spend a few hours with friends. Mornings of casual, friendly competitions are scheduled throughout the summer months at Scalzi Park.
Weekly Walks
Join this group on Wednesday mornings as they walk and talk around one of three local parks with a rotating schedule. It’s a great way to get a little exercise and enjoy fellowship. Significant others, friends and pets are all welcome.

Experience the beauty of Long Island Sound during our annual fishing trip. A great day on the water for first-time or experienced fisherman.

Day Trips to Local Sites of Interest
We organize visits to nearby attractions, offering members opportunities to explore and learn together. Past trips have included historical sites, museums, theatrical performances and other points of interest.
Annual Picnic and Social Gatherings
Our annual picnic, luncheons, and other events welcome spouses and family members, emphasizing the inclusive nature of our community.
